Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy involves the therapeutic use of essential oils which are incorporated into the massage treatment. These aromatic plant essences are selected for individual patients after a careful consultation. Each essential oil has distinct properties which can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions such as migraine, muscle problems, skin conditions, insomnia and respiratory disorders. The oils are diluted with a carrier oil and applied to the skin as part of the massage for absorption into the blood stream. The effects can last several days.

Reflexology is a form of complementary’ medicine and involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas found in the feet and the hands. Most commonly, the feet are used as the areas to be treated. In the feet, there are reflex areas corresponding to all the parts of the body and these areas are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body in the feet with the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left side of the body. By having the whole body represented in the feet, the method offers a means of treating the whole body and of treating the body as a whole.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
